What is an inspection microscope for?
A 5 µm speck sitting on a 9 µm core is enough to degrade a link. The microscope is the only way to see it before you connect.
Check before you connect
Inspecting the end face before insertion avoids transferring residue into the adapter — and therefore contaminating both sides of the link.
Tell a scratch from dirt
Dirt comes off with dry cleaning; a scratch in the core area writes the connector off. The microscope settles it in seconds.
Validate a cleaning
Cleaning without checking is just hoping. Inspecting after the pen or cassette confirms the core area is clean.
Document a handover
A screen capture of the connector end face is usable evidence in a site acceptance report.
